RadVis Read Me - Release 1.3 ---------------------------- This document provides complementary or late-breaking information to supplement this release. Please refer to the Release Notes (releasenotes.txt) for information about this specific software release. WELCOME TO DESIRE RADVIS ------------------------ Welcome to RadVis, an advanced tool for viewing 3D models with the possibility of overlaying 3D radiation dose information. We hope that you will enjoy using the RadVis and that it will benefit you in your work. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ------------------- This software is based on cross-platform Java technology. If you are using Microsoft Windows or Linux (Intel x86) then the installer will offer to install an appropriate Java environment for you. The software can be installed on other operating systems that supports the minimum required Java 2 and Java 3D software versions listed below. If you are not using Microsoft Windows or Linux (Intel x86), ensure that Java and Java 3D are installed before installing the software. The latest versions of Java and Java 3D can be located on Sun Microsystems' Java Web site at and . The minimum recommended requirements for the system is: * 1.7GHz Pentium 4 Personal Computer * 512Mb RAM * Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP * Sun Java 2 JRE 1.4.2 * Sun Java 3D 1.3.2 * 3D Graphics accelerator card * 65MB of free disk space The software can be used on a less powerful hardware however system performance will not be optimal. The software is easiest to use with a three button mouse (including two- button mice with a scroll wheel "button). When used with a two-button mouse, use the alt-key on your keyboard, in combination with the left mouse button, to simulate the middle mouse button. If you have a single-button mouse, use the control key, in combination with the mouse button, to simulate the right mouse button. INSTALLATION ------------ Important: See System Requirements above before installing. The installer called "RadVis Installer" installs RadVis. Double-click on the installer and follow the instructions. DOCUMENTATION ------------- The documentation is available as online help available via RadVis' Help menu. A freqently-asked questions (FAQ) document and general usage tips are available in the Support area on the RadVis website: All users are recommended to read the FAQ: It contains tips for improving rendering performance and also lists the known issues related to Java, Java 3D and graphics card drivers. The navigation libary, j3d.org library, and Xj3D are licensed under the GNU LGPL Version 2.1. The license file is included in the installation.
