System Requirements

RadVis

RadVis is based on cross-platform Java technology.

If you are using Microsoft Windows then the RadVis installer will offer to install an appropriate Java environment for you. The software can be installed on other operating systems that support the minimum required Java 2 and Java 3D software versions listed below.

If you are not using Microsoft Windows, ensure that Java and Java 3D are installed before installing RadVis. The latest versions of Java and Java 3D can be located on Sun Microsystems' Java Web site at http://java.sun.com/.

The recommended requirements for running RadVis is:

  • 1.7GHz Pentium 4 Personal Computer
  • 512Mb RAM
  • Microsoft Windows 2000/XP
  • Java 2 JRE 1.4.2
  • Java 3D 1.3.1 (OpenGL or Direct3D version - see next point)
  • 3D Graphics accelerator card with either OpenGL or Direct3D support and at least 32MB memory (64MB recommended)
  • A three-button mouse
The software can be used on a less powerful hardware configuration with a two-button mouse, however system performance will not be optimal. Use the alt-key on your keyboard in combination with the left mouse button to simulate the middle mouse button if you do not have three mouse buttons.

Note that the Direct3D version of Java 3D is not compatible with Windows NT 3.x or 4.x. Please use the OpenGL version of Java 3D if you are using Windows NT. The Direct3D version of Java 3D is available from Sun Microsystems (see web address provided above). The OpenGL version of Java 3D is included in the installer and installs automatically on Windows and Linux if Java 3D is not already installed on your system.

RadVis is not recommended/supported for Microsoft Windows 98 however it has been reported to function satisfactorily under Windows 98.
